Project Description

The Weight Control Procedure Project for OQ Oil & Gas Company LLC, Oman, focused on the development, standardization, and implementation of a robust weight control management framework to support the company’s engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects.

The primary objective was to establish a comprehensive Weight Control Procedure (WCP) to ensure accurate monitoring, reporting, and management of weight and center of gravity (CoG) across all stages of project execution — from conceptual design to fabrication, installation, and commissioning.

The scope of work included:

• Formulation of a standardized weight control methodology aligned with international best practices (API RP 2A, ISO 19901-5, and company-specific engineering standards).

• Definition of roles, responsibilities, and reporting protocols for engineering, procurement, and construction teams.

• Development of data tracking formats, weight databases, and progress templates to ensure consistency and traceability.

• Establishment of thresholds for monitoring deviations and conducting periodic weight reconciliation and auditing throughout project life cycles.

The deliverable — a detailed Weight Control Procedure manual — serves as a strategic engineering governance document, ensuring design integrity, safety, and load management accuracy for OQ’s major onshore and offshore facilities.

This initiative strengthened OQ’s ability to maintain project quality, structural balance, and installation safety, supporting efficient execution of large-scale oil and gas infrastructure projects across Oman.
