MAHARAJA LELA JAMALULALAM (MLJ) FIELD OFFSHORE BRUNEI

Project Description

The Maharaja Lela Jamalulalam (MLJ) Field Offshore Engineering Project, executed by Damit Worley Parsons for TOTAL E&P Borneo B.V., involved a detailed engineering study and evaluation of multiple installation options for wireline and well intervention operations in the offshore production facilities of Brunei.

The study focused on assessing different configurations and placement strategies for critical operational equipment, including the snubbing unit, crane systems, and supporting structures, to ensure optimal safety, accessibility, and structural stability during wireline operations.

Comprehensive layout assessments, structural feasibility analyses, and equipment load studies were performed to identify the most efficient and safe arrangement within the platform’s space and operational constraints. The work also considered lifting operations, load transfer mechanisms, and platform integrity under dynamic offshore conditions.

Key deliverables included:

  • Evaluation of multiple snubbing unit placement options with 3D visualization and structural verification.

  • Crane reach, load path, and interference analysis to optimize operation safety.

  • Recommendations for temporary and permanent support structures.

  • Integration review with existing utilities and process layouts.

The study provided TOTAL E&P Borneo B.V. with clear, technically validated options to execute wireline operations safely and efficiently while maintaining structural integrity and operational continuity in the MLJ offshore field.
