SULPHUR RECOVERY UNIT, IOCL, VADODARA

Project Description

The Sulphur Recovery Unit (SRU) Project at IOCL Vadodara, executed by Nuberg Engineering Ltd., involved the process and structural design of a stack structure forming an integral part of the refinery’s emission control and process venting system.

The project scope included the engineering design, analysis, and detailing of the SRU stack structure, ensuring it met the stringent operational, environmental, and safety requirements of IOCL’s refinery complex. The design accounted for thermal loads, wind and seismic effects, and corrosive flue gas conditions, ensuring long-term durability and compliance with relevant IS, ASME, and API standards.

Key deliverables included:

  • Process design calculations for gas flow, temperature, and pressure parameters.

  • Structural design and analysis of the stack and supporting foundation using advanced modeling tools.

  • Material selection and corrosion protection strategy to ensure reliable long-term performance.

  • Preparation of fabrication drawings, GA drawings, and design documentation as per IOCL’s engineering specifications.

The project ensured a robust, efficient, and environmentally compliant stack system, supporting IOCL’s commitment to sustainable refining operations and emission control.
